Build Your Own GPT Architect
The most useful discovery in terms of AI came right at the end of last year - I was sent a video from an ecom founder doing over $100m revenue with 14 employees, and he credited this efficiency to his use of AI, specifically GPTs.
Pretty much everyone I’ve spoken to about this has wanted more information, so rather than send out prompts to a bunch of people I’ve created this resource.
This guide will briefly explain the power of having your own GPT architect and what you can do with it - then I’ll provide you with a downloadable version of the prompt. It takes 2 minutes to set-up (assuming you have a ChatGPT account) and it will 10x your output.
What’s a GPT?
A GPT is a dedicated digital operator. Think of it as a role, not a tool.
At its core, a GPT is:
Given a single, clear objective
Loaded with context, rules, preferences, examples
Constrained to one way of thinking
Reusable, consistent, and non-emotional
So if you have any kind of repeatable requirements or specific projects where you need assistance, a GPT with all the pre-loaded information is absolutely the best way to get meaningful insights. When you’re engaging in a “chat”, the AI is sourcing feedback from the entire universe of human knowledge. This increases hallucinations and results in generic advice.
What’s a GPT architect?
Building GPT involves a number of steps (some optional) but the core is a really strong master prompt that tells the GPT what it’s doing. It provides parameters and guidelines, plus you can include information about the tone of voice and level of detail you want to receive.
These can take a lot of time, and become a major barrier to creating a suite of GPTs that can help manage businesses and projects (or plan renovations or holidays).
The solution is to start by building a GPT architect GPT. This creates a positive flywheel where you have an incredibly focused tool that is an absolute expert in the creation of GPTs.
This is the perfect use case for a GPT and once you’ve created this role you will be amazed at what you can achieve.
So far I’ve created GPTs to:
Help with my renovation project - I’ve uploaded all the plans, budgets, timelines and costs. It has advised me on how to manage the tender process, the detailed timelines and risk analysis.
Act as a Founder OS for a new business venture - I uploaded my draft brand documents, business models, property strategy (created by the GPT and fed back into it). It has provided very balanced and grounded advice on how to achieve my strategic objectives, built me operational frameworks and generally acted as a sounding-board to organise my wild ideas.
Carry out repeat tasks across multiple clients - Video Treatment GPT, Review Analyst GPT, Presentation Specialist GPT - all of these are seeded with ideal examples of what I want and a prompt from my GPT Architect.
The GPT Architect Prompt
This takes a few minutes:
Open ChatGPT and go into GPTs in the side menu and select “Explore GPTs”
Select “+ Create” in the top right hand corner
Add a name (e.g. GPT Prompt Architect)
Add a Description
Open this document and copy and paste the contents into your “Instructions”
Click create and you’re done
Your First Automated GPT
Pick any project you’re working on and choose an area you’d like some special advice on - upload some documentation into the GPT and ask it to create you a GPT to help with something. You can even ask if it’s a good use case for a GPT (for instance it’s not good at actual project management, but it’s great at overall strategic advice and creating packages to push into PM software).
Once you’ve got the prompt - create another GPT and this time include all relevant documentation in the “Uploads” section. Road test it to see if it’s fit-for-purpose, and if not you can explain to the GPT Architect what you’d like to be improved.
